I love this band. The album is sort of a mixture between blues and hard rock. Heavy blues? Maybe. They have pretty good songs, "Be Good And Be Kind" being one of them. I personally enjoy the rhythm in their songs. Enjoy.

The group was formed by Adrian Gurvitz and Paul Gurvitz, formerly of The Gun. Following the band's dissolution, Adrian played with Buddy Miles and Paul played with Parrish & Gurvitz, then reunited as Three Man Army. Their debut album, A Third of a Lifetime, featured several drummers, including Miles, Carmine Appice (of Vanilla Fudge) and Mike Kellie (from Spooky Tooth).
Tony Newman, who had previously played with Sounds Incorporated and Rod Stewart, joined for the group's next two albums, and a fourth album was planned but never recorded. Newman then left to play with David Bowie, and the Gurvitzes united with Ginger Baker as the Baker Gurvitz Army.

NHB is a very nice hard/prog rock band, with only a single album released, as usual. For a prog rock band tracks are usually short, with the exception of "Rabbits", which is 13 minutes long. "Give It to You Girl" and "I Really Need a Friend" are lovely songs. Recommended!

Band information:
The Mops were formed in 1966 by a group of high schoolers: Mikiharu Suzuki (drums), Taro Miyuki (guitar), Masaru Hoshi (or Katu Hoshi) (guitar), and Kaoru Murakami (bass). They began as an instrumental rock group similar to The Ventures, but soon after forming, Mikiharu Suzuki's brother Hiromitsu joined on lead vocals. The group began to play psychedelic rock at the suggestion of their manager, who had brought home recordings of American hippie groups such as Jefferson Airplane from his trip to San Francisco. The group signed toJVC Records, the Japanese wing of Victor Records, and released a single in November 1967 called "Asamade Matenai", which hit No. 38 on the Japanese charts. In April 1968, the full-length debut, Psychedelic Sound in Japan, followed; the album included covers of "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane, "Light My Fire" by The Doors, as well as "Inside-Looking Out" and "San Franciscan Nights" by The Animals. They received much press for being the "first psychedelic band" in Japan, and performed with elaborate light shows.
Bassist Murakami quit the group in 1969, and guitarist Miyuki moved to bass. The group then signed with Liberty/Toshiba/EMI, moving to a blues rock and Hard Rock sound, and followed with the hits "Tadorituitara Itumo Amefuri" "Gekko Kamen (Moonlight Mask)" and "Goiken Muyo (No Excuse)", both of which charted in 1971. Several albums followed before the group's breakup in May 1974.
After The Mops, Hoshi remained in the music industry, working as an arranger. Hiromitsu Suzuki became a TV personality and actor, and Mikiharu Suzuki embarked on a successful career in artist management. The group achieved a resurgence of cult fandom in America after their "theme song", entitled "I'm Just A Mops", was included on the 1960s rarities compilation Nuggets II.
Exkursions could only release this single album. The album is a mixture between Blues and Psychedelia. Very enjoyable 8 songs, "Would You Believe?" being my favorite. Best part of this album for me is that every single song feels like it's been made of a different genre.
Album information: 01 - Picture Woman 02 - Dry Ground 03 - Baby You Lied 04 - What Happened to Me 05 - Third Eye 06 - You & Me 07 - It's Been Set Down 08 - Would You Believe
After a break, I'm returning with a Prog rock album, by The Cleves. This Australian band has gotten my interest with the song "Waterfall". Very interesting keys and lead on this album. Recommended!
Album information: 01. Work Out 02. There Is A Place 03. Keep Trying 04. Time Has Come 05. Summertime 06. Wait For A Moment 07. For A Time 08. Waterfall 09. You And Me [Bonus Track] 10. Music From Michael [Bonus Track]
Timothy, where on earth did you go?! This compilation album is a mixture between psyche, prog & classic rock. 18 tracks, well worth to be in an archive.
Tear Gas is for those days you need to just get run over by a truck. Or rather just need some heavy sound. The band is labeled as Prog rock, but I think we need to add the word heavy somewhere in between. "Love Story" is my favorite.
Blues and Psyche had a baby, they named it Tangerine. This first and last album has 5 tracks, "A.J.F." and "Come and See Me" being the most memorable ones. Give it a try!
Stark Naked to me is somewhere between prog and psyche, have a listen and decide for yourself. "Favorite" is a word I use too often, atleast when I'm blogging, but everything I post here truly is a favorite of mine, Stark naked is one of them. Male & female vocals, heavy guitar work, and non-ending tracks!
Sir Lord Baltimore - Kingdom Come & Sir Lord Baltimore
Heavy! Sir Lord Baltimore is a hard rock/heavy psyche rock band. Kingdom Come has one of my favorite songs, "Kingdom Come". Another great mention would be "Hard Rain Fallin'" from the same album. Lead guitar work alone is a good reason to try out this band if you have not already.
Some would call this Krautrock, but I prefer not to. Second life is a hard rock/psyche rock band from Germany. Found this band through the song "Hate", which uses the main riff from Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4".
Samuel Prody is a heavy psychedelic rock band, that I wish had found earlier. There's a lot of lead guitar work on this album. Songs "Woman" and "Hallucination" are great and should be heard.
I think I found Salem Mass a little too late. Mostly because Psyche always came before Prog for me. I absolutely love this single album the band has released. Salem Mass is a keyboard-heavy prog rock band with psychedelic influence. 10 minute long song "Witch Burning" can keep me awake all night. "You're Just a Dream" and "My Sweet Jane" are both great songs I will note.
And here is my favorite female singer of all time. Members of Parliament-Funkadelic contributed to both of these albums. These albums would not be the same if not for Eddie Hazel's guitar work. Her cover of "Gimme Shelter" is the best I've heard to this day. Strong female vocals, psychedelic funk. "The Medal" is also a song that is a favorite of mine.

I wanted to have this legendary band on the blog and here it is. Quicksilver is dear to me. Here is all of their albums, with the exception of Solid Silver released in '75. There isn't much I can say about them as we all probably know the band. However they are still very underrated, I'd have never heard of them if I was never interested in psyche rock. Should have been on a hall of fame of some sort. John Cipollina, is also a favorite guitarist of mine, rest in peace tall man.

(1969) - Happy Trails
(1969) - Shady Grove

Band information:
Quicksilver Messenger Service gained wide popularity in the San Francisco Bay Area and through their recordings, with psychedelic rock enthusiasts around the globe, and several of their albums ranked in the Top 30 of the Billboard Pop charts. Though not as commercially successful as contemporaries Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead, Quicksilver was integral to the beginnings of their genre. With their jazz and classical influences and a strong folk background, the band attempted to create an individual, innovative sound. Member Dino Valenti drew heavily on musical influences he picked up during the folk revival of his formative musical years. The style he developed from these sources is evident in Quicksilver Messenger Service's swung rhythms and twanging guitar sounds.
After many years, the band has attempted to reform despite the deaths of several members. Recently, original members Gary Duncan and David Freiberg have been touring as the Quicksilver Messenger Service, using various backing musicians.
A progressive rock band from Netherlands. These guys are heavy! Their cover of "Drive My Car" is very well done. I enjoy the song "The Prisoner" so much, especially the intro. Give Pugh's Place a chance.
Psycheground (previously Nuova Idea), a band from Italy. This album has my favorite prog song of all time, "Traffic". A mixture between psyche and prog rock. Back then band members had to hide their names, so there isn't much information about the band. Enjoy.
Out of Focus is a progressive rock band from Germany. They are also mentioned as a Krautrock band as all others from the era, but I do not like the term. This selftitled album is actually their second, unfortunately this is the only one that I have in the archive. Prog lovers, gather around!
Album information:
01 - What Can A Poor Boy Do (But To Be A Streetfighting Man)
02 - It's Your Life
03 - Whispering
04 - Blue Sunday Morning
05 - Fly Bird Fly
06 - Television Programm
Band information:
Out Of Focus was a German "Krautrock" rock fusion band, formed in late-1968 in Munich, existing 5 years or so. They took their name from a Blue Cheer track, but had also been listening to Soft Machine and Xhol Caravan, and rapidly established a distinctive style blending rock and jazz, psychedelic overtones. A unique facet was the profound socio-political awareness of Moran Neumüller's songs. Although typically Munich styled (with Embryo and Sahara connections) they are often compared to Canterbury fusion and Scandinavian jazz-rock acts.
